The Lord is With Us

Our family reads the Scripture together every evening. We are currently in the book of Judges. A verse jumped out at me a few nights ago and I have not stopped thinking about it and praying the words of it since, given the situation with Covid 19 that we are undergoing. It was the last part of the verse that especially struck me at this time.

Judges 10:16 “So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD. And His soul could no longer endure the misery of Israel.” NKJV

Despite the sad numbers we are seeing on the news, I trust my God. I know He is in complete control of this situation. He knows what we are thinking and feeling and He knows how this is all going to turn out. It is my prayer that people are turning to the Lord Jesus Christ in this difficult time and finding He is a trustworthy, comforting source of strength.

Lord, I pray that Your soul can no longer endure the misery this virus is causing. I trust You completely and know that You will act according to Your perfect timing and purposes. I know You are with us in this crisis and that Your love for us is unchanging and steadfast. Amen.

Praise, Prayer, Promises, Psalm 93

I wanted to give a fresh take on the TP issue.
Think Praise—We can use this time to focus on the praise our God so richly deserves. Billy Graham made it a practice to read 5 Psalms and 1 chapter of Proverbs each day of the month. Reading the psalms always flexes my praise muscles! Lord Jesus Christ we thank You that You care for each one of us and You are in control!
Trust Promises—Our God will not leave us for a single second in this time, Hebrews 13:5. He is with us and we can use this time to share precious promises from His word with those around us, neighbours, etc., as we email them or call them to chat. Spending time searching the word for His promises is a worthwhile use of extra time you have now. Thank You, Lord, for Your many wonderful promises which we know You will not fail to keep in Your perfect timing.
Thoughtfully Pray—There is much to pray for right now. We always have this amazing privilege of being part of God’s work by praying and now it is more crucial than ever. So many people have no hope in this situation and we can be constant in prayer so when opportunities arise to witness for His glory, we are ready with our “speech always with grace, seasoned with salt, that [we] may know how [we] ought to answer each one,” Colossians 4:6. Father in heaven, gives us Your words to speak to a hurting world. Help us to be lights for You in these days.
May you be encouraged in Him and by Him today. I leave you with the words of Psalm 93.

The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty;
The Lord is clothed,
He has girded Himself with strength.
Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.
2 Your throne is established from of old;
You are from everlasting. 3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
The floods have lifted up their voice;
The floods lift up their waves.
4 The Lord on high is mightier
Than the noise of many waters,
Than the mighty waves of the sea. 5 Your testimonies are very sure;
Holiness adorns Your house,
O Lord, forever.

Meeting Fear with Faith

Faith, Fear, Peace, Trust, Word of God

In light of recent events I wanted to remind myself that our God is in charge. When we see the world around us fearful and in panic mode, it is helpful to remember that “…God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV. Our God is in this thing! “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8. We can be assured that God was with the first case of this virus and He will be with the last case, and every case in between. He is “…Alpha and Omega…” Revelation 1:8, and He knows the end from the beginning. If I feel myself starting to become fearful, spending time in His word and in prayer can calm my spirit and refresh my soul. “In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears,” Psalm 18:6. He will send His light, His comfort and His peace. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus,” Philippians 4:6-7. “Now the God of all peace be with you all,” Romans 15:33.
